Assistant Coaches

Assistant Head Coach Tony Oglesby

Assistant Coach Tony Oglesby enters the 2008 season with an unparalleled work ethic and a verve for smart, aggressive defense.

He came to UWA in 1997 after a six-year term coaching linebackers and defensive ends at GSC rival West Georgia, where he appeared in the NCAA Division II Playoffs twice. Oglesby also mentored defensive linemen and inside linebackers while serving as co-defensive coordinator at North Greenville Junior College in 1990.

He was a four-time letterman and three-year starter at linebacker for UWA from 1983-86. He remained at UWA to serve as a student assistant from 1987-88 and a graduate assistant in charge of outside linebackers in 1989.

Oglesby had an outstanding prep career at Elberton (Ga.) County High School, earning high school All-State and All-American honors while registering 210 tackles as a senior linebacker.

The Elberton, Ga., native earned a B.S. in Health Education from UWA in 1986. Oglesby is the father of three children, Tieshia, Tandika and Tony Jr.

Offensive Coordinator Will Hall

Will Hall joins the Tigers staff after serving as Offensive Coordinator at the University of Arkansas at Monticello in 2007. He helped guide the Boll Weevils to the top of the Gulf South Conference in rushing offense and into third place in total offense this past season, while mentoring GSC Freshman of the Year Scott Buisson. Prior to his stint at UAM, Hall served as Offensive Coordinator at Southwest Baptist University in 2006, and led SBU to 23rd nationally in total offense and 15th in rushing yards per game in Division II. Hall has also had coaching stints at Presbyterian College (S.C.) and Henderson State.

An Amory, Miss.-native, Hall was a standout quarterback at the University of North Alabama, where he was the 2003 Harlon Hill Trophy recipient while leading the Lions to a 13-1 record and the Division II National Quarterfinals. He was named All-American by the Associated Press, Daktronics, Football Gazette and d2football.com, and set 16 school records in his two seasons at UNA. Prior to his playing days at UNA, Hall was a two-time Junior College All-American at Northwest Mississippi Community College, leading the Rangers to a 21-1 record while setting two national NJCAA records for single-season passing with 3,983 yards and 48 touchdowns.

Defensive Coordinator Andy Greening

Andy Greening begins his first season as Defensive Coordinator for the UWA Football Team. Greening has served as a member of the Northeast Mississippi Community College coaching staff for the past 10 years.

As the head coach at NEMCC, Greening led the Tigers to three Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division Titles (2002, 2004, 2005). In the Hurricane Katrina-shortened 2005 season, Greening coached Northeast to the only undefeated regular season in school history (7-0), a national ranking that climbed as high as number two, and to the Pilgrim’s Pride Bowl Classic in Mount Pleasant, Texas which was the first-ever bowl appearance for a Tiger football team. In 2005 both the offense and defense ranked in the top 20 in the country at season’s end.

Greening, a Corinth, Miss.-native, started coaching at Northeast in 1998 as Defensive Coordinator on Coach Laurin Collins’ staff and served in that capacity for two more seasons under Coach Bobby Hall before taking over as head coach in 2003.

Prior to his stint with the Tigers, Greening was a successful head coach at Booneville High School, Amory High School and Alcorn Central High School. Greening attended NEMCC, where he played football, before receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University in Health and Physical Education in 1979. He also earned a Masters Degree from MSU in 1984.

While at SBU, he helped guide the Bearcat offense to 24th in the nation. Gregg also served as an Offensive Line Assistant at the University of Memphis in 2004. While with UM, the offensive line gave up only five sacks the entire season and earned a trip to the GMAC Bowl in Detroit, Mich.
