Assistant Head Coach Tony Oglesby
Assistant Coach Tony Oglesby enters
the 2008 season with an unparalleled work ethic and a
verve for smart, aggressive defense.
He came to UWA in 1997 after a
six-year term coaching linebackers and defensive ends at
GSC rival West Georgia, where he appeared in the NCAA
Division II Playoffs twice. Oglesby also mentored
defensive linemen and inside linebackers while serving
as co-defensive coordinator at North Greenville Junior
College in 1990.
He was a four-time letterman and
three-year starter at linebacker for UWA from 1983-86.
He remained at UWA to serve as a student assistant from
1987-88 and a graduate assistant in charge of outside
linebackers in 1989.
Oglesby had an outstanding prep
career at Elberton (Ga.) County High School, earning
high school All-State and All-American honors while
registering 210 tackles as a senior linebacker.
The Elberton, Ga., native earned a B.S. in Health
Education from UWA in 1986. Oglesby is the father of three
children, Tieshia, Tandika and Tony Jr.
Offensive Coordinator Will
Hall
Will Hall joins
the Tigers staff after serving as Offensive Coordinator
at the
University of Arkansas at Monticello in 2007. He helped
guide the Boll Weevils to the top of the Gulf South
Conference in rushing offense and into third place in
total offense this past season, while mentoring GSC
Freshman of the Year Scott Buisson. Prior to his stint
at UAM, Hall served as Offensive Coordinator at
Southwest Baptist University in 2006, and led SBU to 23rd
nationally in total offense and 15th in
rushing yards per game in Division II. Hall has also had
coaching stints at Presbyterian College (S.C.) and
Henderson State.
An Amory, Miss.-native, Hall was a standout quarterback
at the University of North Alabama, where he was the
2003 Harlon Hill Trophy recipient while leading the
Lions to a 13-1 record and the Division II National
Quarterfinals. He was named All-American by the
Associated Press, Daktronics, Football Gazette and
d2football.com, and set 16 school records in his two
seasons at UNA. Prior to his playing days at UNA, Hall
was a two-time Junior College All-American at Northwest
Mississippi Community College, leading the Rangers to a
21-1 record while setting two national NJCAA records for
single-season passing with 3,983 yards and 48
touchdowns.
Defensive Coordinator Andy Greening
Andy Greening begins his first season as Defensive
Coordinator for the UWA Football Team. Greening has
served as a member of the Northeast Mississippi
Community College coaching staff for the past 10 years.
As the head coach at NEMCC, Greening led the Tigers
to three Mississippi Association of Community and Junior
Colleges (MACJC) North Division Titles (2002, 2004,
2005). In the Hurricane Katrina-shortened 2005 season,
Greening coached Northeast to the only undefeated
regular season in school history (7-0), a national
ranking that climbed as high as number two, and to the
Pilgrim’s Pride Bowl Classic in Mount Pleasant, Texas
which was the first-ever bowl appearance for a Tiger
football team. In 2005 both the offense and defense
ranked in the top 20 in the country at season’s end.
Greening, a Corinth, Miss.-native, started coaching
at Northeast in 1998 as Defensive Coordinator on Coach
Laurin Collins’ staff and served in that capacity for
two more seasons under Coach Bobby Hall before taking
over as head coach in 2003.
Prior to his stint with the Tigers, Greening was a
successful head coach at Booneville High School, Amory
High School and Alcorn Central High School. Greening
attended NEMCC, where he played football, before
receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi
State University in Health and Physical Education in
1979. He also earned a Masters Degree from MSU in 1984.
Offensive Line Coach Sam Gregg
Sam Gregg makes
his way to Livingston by way of the University of
Arkansas at
Monticello, where he served as Offensive Line Coach for
the Boll Weevils. Gregg, also a native of Amory, Miss.,
was a high school teammate of Hall at Amory High School
and has coached with Hall at UAM and Southwest Baptist
University. While at SBU, he helped guide the Bearcat
offense to 24th in the nation. Gregg also
served as an Offensive Line Assistant at the University
of Memphis in 2004. While with UM, the offensive line
gave up only five sacks the entire season and earned a
trip to the GMAC Bowl in Detroit, Mich.
Gregg’s collegiate career began at Itawamba (MS)
Community College under Jay Miller, where he later
served as defensive line coach in 2003. He also played
at Murray State University from 2000 to 2001 under Joe
Pannunzio.
Secondary Coach Ken Watson
Secondary Coach Ken Watson comes to
Livingston for his fourth season as secondary coach. As a
player, Watson played four seasons under former
UWA Head Coach Sam McCorkle from 1985-88 and was a
four-time All-Gulf South Conference defensive back.
Before making his way back to UWA,
Watson spent the 2002-2005 seasons at Miles College in
Birmingham, where he coached the secondary. He also
spent some time in professional football, playing for
the Edmonton Eskimos (2000), Toronto Argonauts (1999),
Montreal Alouettes (1996-97), Baltimore Stallions
(1994-96) and the Calgary Stampeders (1992-93).
As a player at UWA, Watson moved into
the record books, where he still appears today in both
career interceptions (15, tied third) and career punt
return yards (690, second). He also had the sixth
longest punt return in school history in 1986, a 67-yard
effort versus Western Kentucky.
In 2001, he received a degree in
Drafting and Design Technology from Bessemer State
Technical College, where he finished with a 4.0 GPA and
appeared on the Dean’s List every semester.
Watson is married to the former Charlene Johnson of
Adamsville, Ala. They have two children, Kenneth J.
Watson, Jr. and Koi Alexis Watson.
Wide Receivers Coach Desmond
Lindsey
Lindsey rounds out
the trio making their way to UWA. Lindsey, a
Taylorsville,
Miss.
native, served as Wide Receivers Coach and Recruiting
Coordinator at UAM in 2007. A former Delta State
standout, Lindsey tutored three of the GSC’s top 10
receivers in 2007. Prior to his stint with the Boll
Weevils, Lindsey served as the Wide Receivers Coach at
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in
Perkinston, Miss. While
at MCGCC, he helped guide the Bulldogs to the 2005 MACJC
South Division Championship, while mentoring two MACJC
All-State wide receivers.
Lindsey’s
playing career started at Taylorsville (Miss.) High
School, where he was a teammate of current Washington
Redskins quarterback and former Auburn University
standout Jason Campbell and the pair shared one 2A state
championships. Lindsey also played two seasons at Jones
County Junior College in Ellisville, Miss. before
heading to Delta State.
Running Backs Coach
Scott Harper
Scott Harper begins his second season coaching at
UWA after several years of college and professional
playing experience.

He began his collegiate career at GCCC in
Mississippi. After 2 years there, he transferred to
Marshall University in Huntington, WV, and was a
lineman on the 1999 and 2000 MAC championship teams.
After one season in the NFL, he moved to Canada and
played with the CFL Winnipeg Blue Bombers for 2
years. In his spare time, he volunteered at Foley
High School in Foley, AL, during the 2006 season
assisting the coaching staff.
Scott received his undergraduate degree in
criminal justice from Marshall University, and he is
currently working towards his Master’s Degree at
UWA. He and his wife Brittney are expecting their
first child this December.
Tight Ends Coach
Robert Herring
Robert Herring enters his second season at UWA,
where he coached the wide receivers a season ago.
Herring, a graduate of Oxford High School in
Oxford, Ala., where he was a member of the 1989
State Championships team, comes to Livingston after
serving as the offensive coordinator at Shelby
County High School in Birmingham for his younger
brother Ryan.
Herring attended the University of Alabama before
returning to his alma mater in 1995 to coach the
Yellow Jacket quarterbacks. Herring left OHS in 2000
to become the wide receivers coach at Newnan High
School in Newnan, Ga, where he stayed until 2004.
Herring’s father, Robert, is a member of the
Alabama High School Hall of Fame after winning three
State Championships at Oxford High School.
