HUNTSVILLE,
Ala. – The University of West Alabama men’s
cross country squad finished 13th at
the NCAA Division II South Regional in
Huntsville, Ala. on Saturday at Sharon Johnson
Park.
The Tigers
were led by freshman Austin Enriquez, who turned
in a top 20 finish with a mark of 33 minutes,
33.01 seconds for a 16th-place
finish. With his top-20 finish, Enriquez wraps
up his rookie campaign with a ninth-place finish
at the Gulf South Conference Championships along
with a top-20 placement in the South Regional.
Jonathan Sellers was UWA’s second finisher with
a time of 35:00.6.
On the women’s
side, Amanda Fuentes led the Red and White
charge with a time of 23:59.2 on the 6K course.
She has paced the women’s squad in every meet of
the 2007 season.
The South
Regional wraps up the season for the Tiger
harriers. The men opened the season with a win
at the Southern Miss Invitational and a second
place finish at the Mississippi State
Invitational. The squad claimed fifth place at
the GSC Championships. The women’s team posted
a strong finish at the Mississippi College
event.
