LIVINGSTON, Ala. —
The University of West
Alabama cross country teams will vie for a Gulf
South Conference Championship on Saturday in
Hoover, Ala. at the 2007 GSC Cross Country
Championships.
This year’s championship will
contested at the newly renovated Veteran’s Park
in the Hoover area. The 11-team, 8-K men’s meet
is set to start at 9:00 a.m. (Central Time),
followed by the 15-team, 5-K women’s event which
starts 30 minutes after the finish of the men’s
race.
The course is home to many high-profile
distance running competitions, including the
Nike Invitational and the Great American Races.
UWA’s men have posted three
top-10 finishes in the four previous meets,
including a win in the season-opener at Southern
Mississippi and a second-place finish at the
Mississippi State event. Freshman Austin
Enriquez has led the Tiger charge in three of
the four meets this season. On the women’s
side, the Red and White are coming off a
fifth-place finish at the Mississippi College
Invitational last weekend. Senior Amanda
Fuentes has been UWA’s top-finisher in every
meet this season.
Harding has
claimed the past seven cross country league
title on the men’s side while the HU women have
won the past three conference crowns.
