Tigers Move Into First Place Tie In
The GSC East With Sweep Of UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of
West Alabama volleyball team snapped a
two-match losing skid with a 3-0 sweep of
UAH on Monday night in Huntsville, Ala. The
win also pushed UWA into a tie for first
place in the Gulf South Conference East
Division with West Florida at 6-2 in
conference play.
The
Tigers took the first two sets by identical
scores of 25-16 before closing out the match
25-23. UWA bumps its overall season mark to
26-7 while the Chargers slipped to 8-26
overall. The Tigers have taken the season
series with UAH for the third-straight
season.
Senior
Jordan Kent powered UWA with a match-high 15
kills. The Decatur, Ala-native also served
up three aces along with a block solo to her
credit. Kent only had two hitting miscues
on 22 total attempts. Senior Jessica Crook
finished with nine kills and six digs.
Crook was also associated with three blocks
on the night. Junior Thais Hollerbach
registered six digs and a match-best eight
digs. Junior Kasi Pardue started her first
match in a Red and White uniform and added a
pair of kills and three block assists.
As a
team, UWA held the Chargers to just .037
hitting percentage and posted 11 total
blocks. UAH was led by Allison Cousins’ six
kills in the setback.
The
Tigers close out the GSC slate this weekend
traveling to Carrollton, Ga. on Friday, Nov.
6, to face West Georgia before continuing on
Valdosta State on Saturday. The UWG duel
will get underway at 6 p.m. CST while the
VSU tilt is set for 3 p.m. CST.
