LIVINGSTON, Ala.
– The University of West
Alabama volleyball team
tallied its 25th
win of the season and 16th-straight
with a sweep of Stillman
College on Tuesday night at
Pruitt Hall.
The Tigers (25-5) needed
just over an hour to dispose
of SC in straight sets –
25-9, 25-12, 25-14. UWA
secured a season sweep over
its opponent from
Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Senior Jessica Crook posted
a match-high 15 kills and
registered a .700 attacking
percentage. Crook has now
finished with double figure
kills in 11 of her last 13
matches. The Ohatchee,
Ala.-native was also
credited with three digs and
a block solo. Junior Thais
Hollerbach turned in 11
kills in the outing along
with four digs. Sophomore
setter Alexis McHale dished
out 38 assists and tallied
six of UWA’s 11 service
aces. Senior Chanelle
Esteban added six digs and
four service aces.
As a team, the Red and White
finished with a .477
attacking percentage while
holding the Tigers of SC to
just .033. The Tigers
carded 45 kills to SC’s 15
in the affair.
The
Tigers will break away from
competition this weekend and
will return to Gulf South
Conference action on
Tuesday, Oct. 27, visiting
West Florida in a key GSC
East battle. UWA will have
to defend its lead in the
division away from Pruitt
Hall as it plays five
straight GSC duels on the
road. The Tigers close out
the regular season on Nov.
10, hosting in-state NAIA
foe Spring Hill.
