LIVINGSTON, Ala. –
After successfully opening the
Gulf South Conference season
against Montevallo on Tuesday
night, the University of West
Alabama volleyball team will
host Southern Arkansas in a
Friday night, Saturday afternoon
doubleheader at Pruitt Hall.
Friday’s match is set for 7 p.m.
while Saturday’s contest will
start at 1 p.m. CST.
With 12-straight wins under
their belt to start the season,
the Tigers are the lone GSC team
without a blemish in the loss
column. The Red and White lead
the
league in hitting percentage
with a .350 clip. The club also
sits atop the service ace and
digs category in the GSC.
Individually, junior Allison
Nail leads the team with 181
kills (.422). The Cullman,
Ala.-native also is the
league-leader in hitting
percentage.
“We hope to carry the
momentum from Tuesday night’s
conference win at Montevallo into this weekend with Southern
Arkansas,” said head coach Ron
Arenz. “We had a great crowd in
our home opener and hope folks
come out this weekend like they
did that night.”
SAU enters the weekend
activity with a 3-8 record on
the season. The Lady Muleriders
dropped a five-set match to
Tarleton State on Tuesday in
their last outing. Last year
SAU won two of the three matches
from UWA.
After the weekend tilts with SAU,
the Tigers will continue their
homestand on Tuesday, Sept. 18,
tangling with in-state rival
North Alabama. Fans are
encouraged to wear white to the
match versus UNA.
