LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The
University of West Alabama
volleyball team opened a five-match
home stretch in disappointing
fashion Tuesday night at Pruitt Hall
as Montevallo swept the Tigers, 3-0,
in a Gulf South Conference match.
West Alabama
(3-10 overall, 0-1 GSC) tried to
keep the Falcons at bay during the
opening game, as the Tigers rallied
numerous times to tie the game at
27. But Montevallo (9-5, 1-0) scored
three of the next four times to take
the game, 30-28. The Falcons took
the contest by winning the second
game, 30-26 and taking the match,
30-23.
Freshman
Giuliana De Francesco led the Tigers
with 43 assists and 12 digs, while
sophomore Jacquie Swan added 26
digs. Sophomore Teresa Clements had
eight kills and nine digs.
Lauren
Tortorici led the Falcons with 13
digs, while Carson Anderson had
nine. Joy Peschman finished with 29
assists and Sarah Keaten added 13
digs.
The Tigers
return to action 7:00 p.m. Thursday,
September 14 at Pruitt Hall against
Gulf South Conference opponent North
Alabama. |
