LIVINGSTON, Ala. —
The University of West Alabama
volleyball team will close out
its current three-match
homestand on Tuesday, Oct. 9,
hosting in-state rival
Montevallo at 7 p.m. at Pruitt
Hall.
The Tigers
are coming off a split this past
weekend. The Red and White
suffered its first setback of
the season on Friday to West
Florida 3-1, but rebounded on
Saturday to sweep Valdosta
State. UWA carries a 5-1 Gulf
South Eastern Division record
into the match with the Falcons
of UM. UM sports a 2-5 record
in conference play after topping
VSU and falling to UWF over the
weekend.
Tuesday’s
tilt with UM is the second of
the season with UWA claiming a
3-1 win at Montevallo on Sept.
11. Junior Allison Nail posted
a match-high 20 kills, while
sophomore Ana Gabriela Pedrosa
registered a double-double with
17 kills and 14 digs. Giuliana
De Francesco finished with 54
assists. UM was paced by Katy
Handrick, who carded 15 kills in
the loss.

Following the
UM match, the Tigers will step
out of conference play to
participate in the Coca-Cola
Classic, hosted by Montevallo
this weekend. UWA will face
Lynn and Martin-Methodist on
Friday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. and 8
p.m. respectively. The Tigers
will square off with Armstrong
Atlantic and Lincoln Memorial on
Saturday.
The Tigers close out their
three-match homestand on
Tuesday, Oct. 9 when they face
in-state foe Montevallo at 7
p.m. at Pruitt Hall. UWA
claimed the first meeting of the
season between the two rivals at
Montevallo, 3-1.
