Ala. – University of West
Alabama Volleyball Head Coach Ron
Arenz announces the signing of
Whitney Jones to a National Letter
of Intent on Thursday, becoming the
first UWA signee for the upcoming
fall.
“Whitney's attributes are going to compliment
our program well,” Arenz said. “With
her size and stature, the impact
that Whitney will have on our
program during her career will be
significant.”
Jones, a
Robertsdale, Ala. native, is a
two-time Most Valuable Player for
RHS, where she was also named
All-County twice. The 6’1, middle
blocker is a two time member of the
Mobile Register’s Super 12 along
with being named to the Alabama
All-Tournament team in 2005 and
2006. During her time at RHS, Jones
was privileged to be a member of the
South team in the annual North-South
All-Star Games in 2006.
In 2003, she
was a member of the IACS State
Tournament Championship team along
with winning a MAACS National
Championship.
Off the court,
Jones has excelled by being named to
the National Honor Society, National
Society of High School Scholars and
has been a two-time recipient of
honor of being named to the Who’s
Who Among American Students. |
