The
University of West Alabama men's basketball team
drops 71-61 contest to North Georgia at Park
Avenue Bank Classic.
Jenario
Bunton led UWA with 14 points on the night.
Patrick Winters and Raymond Shaw also chimed in
double figures, with Winters supplying 11 and
Shaw adding 10. Winters led the charge on the
glass for the Tigers with nine rebounds.
Dustin David
led all scores with 19 points for North Georgia.
Xavier Trice added 16 points UNG, as Buzz Wehit
chimed in 15 points.
UWA, which
led almost all of the first half, held off North
Georgia much of the second half, as the two
teams exchanged baskets for the first 10
minutes.
North
Georgia's Wehut would tie the game at 53 all,
converting on one of two free throws. Trice
would then convert on one of two free throws to
lift UNG to its final lead of the game with 9:39
remaining.
UWA would
keep the margin close, two points, on two
different occasions, the last on a pair of free
throws by Winters.
UNG would
close the final four and a half minutes of the
game on a 12-4 run, reaching their largest lead
of the game, 11 points with 49 seconds remaining
in the game.
The Tigers
shot 40-percent from the floor on the night,
while North Georgia converted on just under
44-percent of its shots.
West Alabama
returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 5, as the
Tigers host Dillard. Tip-off is set for 7:30
