LIVINGSTON, Ala. — Both University of
West Alabama tennis teams are ranked in the
top 10 in the South Region Rankings,
released by the Intercollegiate Tennis
Association this past weekend. The Tiger
men earned the 7th spot in the
listing while the UWA women were listed 10th
in the listing by the college tennis
organization. The rankings are the first of
the spring season.
The
men’s squad suffered its first two setbacks
of the season this past weekend to Valdosta
State and West Florida in the Gulf South
Conference East Jamboree in Huntsville,
Ala. Both VSU and UWF came into the weekend
ranked 2nd and 4th
nationally. The Tigers fell 5-0 to the
Blazers and dropped a 7-0 decision to WFU on
Friday. On the women’s side, the Red and
White dropped back-to-back 5-0 affairs to
VSU and UWF in the event.
The men square off with
NCAA Division I foe Stephan F. Austin on
Monday, March 10 at 10 a.m. on the UWA
campus. Both squads will face Mississippi
College on Tuesday at the Howard R. Vaughn
Tennis Complex. Match time is set for 2
p.m.
