PENSACOLA, Fla. - The University of
West Alabama tennis teams closed out the
Gulf South Conference Jamboree falling to
Valdosta State and West Florida.
The Tiger men (4-4) closed out the day,
falling to West Florida 9-0.
The doubles team of Mylan Anderson and
Sascha Dresselhaus fell 4-8 as the #1
doubles team. Carlin Tighe and Michael
Garcia dropped its doubles game 2-8 as
Brandon Harris and Denton Meintjes fell 3-8.
Dresselhaus fell 0-6, 6-3, 5-10 in the #1
singles position. Meintjes and Tighe both
fell 1-6, 0-6 in their singles game.
Anderson was downed 2-6, 6-7 as Harris
dropped 0-6, 4-6, followed by Garcia 1-6,
2-6.
Both teams opened the day against Valdosta
State, each falling 0-5 to the Blazers and
Lady Blazers.
The #1 doubles team of Anderson and
Dresselhaus fell 6-8 as the #2 doubles team
of Tighe and Garcia dropped 4-8. Erik Duran
and Alex Rondon represented the #3 doubles
team, falling 1-8.
Anderson and Tighe were the only two singles
representatives, both falling 0-6, 0-6.
The UWA women also fell 0-5 to VSU.
The #1 doubles team of Adanys Clerch and Amy
Cole dropped a 0-8 game. The #2 (Rama Siby
and Amy Frazier) and #3 (Rachel Hardaway and
Amana Morgan) doubles teams each fell 1-8.
Siby and Hardaway each dropped 1-6 and 0-6
in the only two singles matches.
The West Alabama women return to action on
Thursday, March 15 as they host Montevallo
at 2:00 p.m. The Tiger men return to action
on Saturday, March 17 against Transylvania
at 11 a.m.
