UWA falls to No. 3 Armstrong Atlantic State

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The University of West Alabama men’s tennis team fell to No. 3 Armstrong Atlantic State University Saturday afternoon, 8-0 at the Ralph “Skeeter” Carson Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of West Florida.

“Sascha (Dresselhaus) had a match point for the No. 1 singles, but the rain came and we had to stop,” Tigers coach Rod Hartzog said. ‘The Armstrong team is very good, so it would have been great to have won a point.”

Late Friday night, the Tiger men’s and women’s teams faced off against Delta State, with the men falling to No. 17 Statesmen, 5-0, while the women lost 8-1.

Adanys Clerch won her match with a score of 7-6, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, but Amanda Morgan, playing No. 6 singles, lost 7-6, 6-1 in a hard-fought contest.

Both teams return to action Wednesday, April 4 at the Howard R. Vaughan Tennis Complex with matches against Mississippi College.
