Steven
Phelps enters his first full season as Sports Information Director at West
Alabama after taking over the position in April 2006. Prior to his promotion, he
served as the Assistant SID at UWA since September
2005. He is a 2001 graduate of Galva-Holstein High School in Holstein, Iowa, and a
2005 graduate of Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, where he received
his degree in Mass Communications. Phelps worked in the sports information
office as a student assistant during his four-year tenure at BVU. He also served
as the public address announcer for the home athletic events. Along with working
in sports information, he also served as a reporter and assistant sports editor
for the school's campus newspaper. Phelps is married to the former Joy Hott of Storm Lake,
Iowa. The couple resides in Livingston.

Brian Howard
Brian
Howard enters his first season as Assistant Sports Information Director at UWA.
He is a 1995 graduate of Firestone High School in Akron, Ohio and a 2000
graduate of Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio where he received his degree in
Sports Communications. While at Ashland, he worked with the campus radio and
television stations and also served time in the sports information office. Prior
to coming to UWA, Howard spent the last six years in the newspaper business,
starting in El Dorado, Arkansas before moving to Keyser, West Virginia. He has
lived in the south for the past four years, working at newspapers in South
Carolina and Georgia, before making his way to UWA.
