Jim King, a native of Adamsville, Ala., came to UWA as an assistant coach in 1970 and helped guide the Tigers to the NAIA National Championship in 1971 and the NAIA Playoffs in 1972. King was an outstanding lineman at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was named Team Captain in 1964. He finished his coaching career at Auburn University and the University of Florida.
Jeff Campbell, a native of Gordo, Ala., eas a
four-year letterman on the UWA baseball team. He helped lead the Tigers to four
consecutive Alabama Collegiate Conference Championships and finished his career
with a remarkable 28-4 record on the mound. He threw four no-hitters, including
one perfect game in his career and was the pitcher when UWA downed Alabama 7-2
for its first win ever over a Division I opponent. |
