LIVINGSTON,
Ala. – Tuesday’s scheduled doubleheader
between the University of West Alabama and
Tuskegee University has been canceled due to wet
field conditions on the TU campus.
The Tigers
return to the diamond on Thursday, April 16,
hosting West Georgia.
UWA (37-10,
9-8 GSC) dropped a doubleheader this past
Saturday to the Wolves of UWG. Thursday’s
re-match at the UWA Softball Complex was
originally scheduled for March 13, but Mother
Nature forced the postponement. UWG topped the
Tigers 8-4 in the opening contest before staving
off a Red and White rally, 5-4.
UWA begins
the week with a .344 hitting clip along with 66
home runs on the season. The home run tally is
a new single-season mark for the program and
ranks tied for third in the nation with UAH.
VSU sits atop the homer leaderboard with 73
followed by Angelo State with 69. Individually,
Emily White posted a team-best six hits over
last week’s four-game stretch; four of the hits
were for extra bases. The senior first baseman
drove in two of UWA’s four runs in the opening
contest with UWG.
The UWG double dip is slated
to start at 3 p.m. at the UWA Softball Complex.
Saturday’s duel with nationally-ranked VSU will
be Senior Day, honoring six Tiger seniors.
First pitch is set for Noon. Sunday’s twinbill
with UWF is scheduled for 1 p.m. Live stats
will be available for all three GSC series at
athletics.uwa.edu.
