INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of West
Alabama softball team vaulted two spots to
seventh in this week’s NCAA Division II Softball
South Region rankings, released by the
organization’s softball committee on Wednesday.
The region
rankings are a portion of the selection process
for post season play. UWA has posted a 23-13
mark within the region as of April 19. The
Tigers surpassed the 40-wins mark on Tuesday
with a sweep of Judson College in Marion, Ala.
UWA (41-13) closes out the regular season with a
Gulf South Conference Tournament berth on the
line, as it travels to Huntsville on Saturday,
April 25, to test top-ranked UAH at Noon. UWA
finishes the weekend in Florence, Ala. on
Sunday, April 26, against North Alabama.
UAH
maintains the top spot in both the region and in
the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s Top
25. GSC East leader Valdosta State lurks in the
second spot, while West Florida holds the fourth
position. Arkansas at Monticello is the lone
GSC West representative in the region.
