LIVINGSTON, Ala.
– The University of West Alabama softball team
returns to the diamond on Tuesday, Feb. 19, hosting
Mid-Continent University at the UWA Softball Complex.
First pitch of the twinbill is set for 2 p.m.
The Tigers enter
the midweek match up with a 4-6 record after posting two
wins last weekend at the West Georgia Invitational in
Carrollton, Ga. UWA topped Georgia Southwestern to
close out Friday’s activity and turned in a 5-4 win over
Armstrong Atlantic State on Saturday.
Offensively, the
Red and White are led by freshman centerfielder Angela
Smith. Smith, from Wetumpka, Ala., has a team-best 13
hits on the season and sports a .464 batting clip.
Freshman second baseman Kelli Hartley has been a
mainstay in the Tiger lineup since opening day. She
posted a .333 batting average this past weekend and was
credited with two doubles in UWA’s 5-4 win over AASU and
scored the game-winning run in the affair.
MCU, who is touring
the state of Alabama, claimed two wins over Stillman
College on Saturday and will face Spring Hill on Monday
before visiting Livingston.
Following the midweek affair, UWA
will return to the tournament trail on the weekend,
taking part in the UAH Charger Chillout.
