LIVINGSTON,
Ala. – The University of West Alabama
softball team will put the finishing touches on
the 2009 non-conference season on Tuesday, April
21, against Judson College in Marion, Ala.
First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
UWA (39-13)
dropped three games in Gulf South Conference
over the weekend against No. 7 Valdosta State
and West Florida. VSU swept Saturday’s twinbill
and UWF snagged the lone contest played on
Sunday. The Tigers enter the final weekend of
conference play with an 11-11 mark. UWA travels
to Huntsville, Ala. on Saturday, April 25,
against UAH before continuing on to Florence,
Ala. to face North Alabama to finish the regular
season on Sunday, April 26.
Tuesday’s
double dip with the Eagles of JC will be the
fourth and fifth meeting of the season, as UWA
has claimed all three previous match ups in
Livingston.
Junior
designated player Lauren Mills turned in a
team-best .600 batting average last week after
posting nine hits in 15 at bats. Mills, a
native of Saskatoon Saskatchewan, blasted four
home runs during the five-game span, including a
pair of home runs in the opening game against
West Georgia. She tallied eight RBIs during the
week along with a double.
As a team, UWA continues to
be one of the top offensive clubs in the GSC.
The Red and White sports a team average of .347
at the plate along with 76 home runs on the
season. The Tigers rank third in the nation in
home runs behind VSU (81) and Metro State (78).
