LIVE STATS

LIVINGSTON, Ala.  – After posting back-to-back Gulf South Conference double header splits against No. 12 Valdosta State and West Florida over the weekend, the West Alabama softball team will close out the 14-game road swing on Tuesday at Birmingham Southern.  First pitch is set for 5 p.m. on the BSC campus.

UWA closed out the GSC weekend with a 10-3 win over West Florida on Sunday after dropping a 4-3 decision in the first game.  The Red and White claimed the second game of the double header with No. 12 Valdosta State on Saturday.  Junior pitcher Brittany McGee tossed her second-straight shut out of the week, blanking VSU 9-0.  The shut out of VSU was the first time in conference play that the Lady Blazers were held scoreless.

The Tigers, 28-26 overall on the season, enter the final non-conference match up with a 22-11 mark against out of conference opposition this season.  UWA sports a .336 batting clip against non-conference foes while the Tiger pitching staff has limited opponent batters to an average of .236 at the plate.  The Panthers of BSC moved to 28-22 after a three-game sweep of Charleston Southern over the weekend.  Tuesday’s pair of games will be the first time UWA and BSC have met on the softball diamond.
