After closing out her intercollegiate
playing career at the University of Indiana last season,
Jennifer Moore joins the University of West Alabama
softball program as a graduate assistant.
The Jackson, Tenn.-native will work
with the Tiger pitching staff after posting 56 victories
and registering 683 career strikeouts in the circle in
her four years of collegiate softball. Moore started her
collegiate pitching career at Volunteer State Community
College in Gallatin, Tenn. On the junior college level,
Moore earned Second Team All America honors at
nationally ranked VSCC in 2006. As a sophomore, she
ranked third in the nation in strikeouts (284) and led
Region XII in strikeouts. Moore amassed a 23-7 record in
the circle with a 0.97 earned run average. The right
hander was a Tennessee Junior College Athletic
Association Region XII selection after her final season
at VSCC. As a freshman at VSCC, Moore turned in a 27-6
mark in the circle while fanning 354. She led the nation
in strikeouts as a freshman and was tabbed the TJCAA
Pitcher of the Year.
Following her stellar junior college
career, Moore signed with the University of Indiana in
Bloomington, Ind. She made 43 appearances in the circle
in her two seasons as a Hoosier. As a junior, Moore saw
action in 24 games, earning the starting nod in 17
games. She turned in four complete games in her first
season in an IU uniform. Moore had the distinction of
starting on opening day in 2007, tossing 5 2/3 innings
and allowing just one hit in IU’s win over Centenary.
She is the daughter of Robert and
Carol Moore. She has three sisters, Jody and Sarah Moore
and Jessica Arwood, and one brother, John.
