BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
For the second straight week a
University of West Alabama softball
player took home Gulf South
Conference Eastern Division Player
of the Week honors, as Shannon
Goggins received the award as
announced by the conference office
on Tuesday.
G oggins,
a senior third baseman, helped the
Tigers win their third award in the
past five weeks as West Alabama went
6-3. She batted .480 at the plate,
while helping the Tigers reach a
19-12 overall mark.
Goggins
had 12 hits on the week, and an
outstanding 15 runs batted in on the
back of six extra base hits. She
also had four multiple-hit games
during that span, and clubbed a home
run while posting a .505 on-base
percentage.
Earning
GSC Eastern Division Pitcher of the
Week was UAH’s Sage Woodham, who
pitched the Lady Chargers past No.
12 Florida Southern.
West
Alabama returns to action at 1:00
p.m. Saturday, March 17 as the
Tigers open conference play against
UAH at the UWA Softball Complex. |
