Caudle, Caylor Lead Wranglers at SAU Rodeo

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The University of West Alabama wranglers competed in the Southern Arkansas Rodeo this past weekend. The UWA men finished third out of nine teams gathering 450 total points. The Tiger wranglers were 30 points away from tying the University of Tennessee at Martin for second place.

Alex Caudle and Justin Caylor each won their respective events. Caudle gathered 160 points in the calf roping for the victory as Caylor posted 140 points to claim the saddle bronc riding.

“I thought Alex and Justin both had nice performances this weekend, but there is always room for improvement” UWA head coach Chad Phipps said. “As a team, we need to step up and continue to improve each week if we want to win the Ozark Region.”

Cole Bilbro finished third in the saddle bronc riding with 80 points with Jerritt Varner recording a third place finish in steer wrestling. Tray Chambliss concluded the UWA scoring with 70 points in the bareback riding which placed him in a split between fourth and fifth place.

West Alabama returns to action on Oct. 15-17 as the wranglers take part in the Troy Rodeo.
