MONTICELLO, Ark. –
The University of West Alabama wranglers
returned to action this weekend, as they
took part in the Boll Weevil Stampede
Rodeo at the University of Arkansas at
Monticello. The women finished fourth
while the men finished in eighth.
“There were a lot
of mistakes made by some of our key
players that should not be made this
late in the year,” UWA Rodeo Coach Chad
Phipps said. “But my motto is if you’re
not winning your learning, so we should
be better next week in Martin."
Natasha Parker
finished third in the first round in the
breakaway roping while Lauren Hedrick
placed in the average in the breakaway
and in the goat tying. Cristi Heisman
finished second and third in the short
round and placed third in the average in
goat tying. On the men’s side, Alex
Caudle finished third in the short round
and third in the average in calf roping.
The wranglers
return to competition at the University
of Tennessee at Martin rodeo on
Thursday, April 10 through Saturday,
April 12.
