MURRAY, Ky. – The University of West
Alabama wranglers took part in two
rodeos over the weekend at Murray State
University. The wrangler women finished
second in first rodeo with a fifth place
finish in the second rodeo. The UWA men
finished seventh in the opening rodeo
and improved their standing in the
second rodeo with a sixth place finish.
During
the weekend, Cristi Heisman and Lauren
Hedrick each placed second in the
women’s all-around. Hedrick claimed
second in the first rodeo with 110
points, with Heisman grabbing second
with 100 points in the second rodeo.
In the
opening rodeo, Hedrick finished tied for
fourth in the breakaway roping and sixth
in the goat tying. Deanna Mixon claimed
a fifth place finish in the barrel
racing, while Heisman finished fourth in
goat tying. Justin Caylor finished in
third saddle bronc riding with Daniel
Poole claiming a fourth place finish in
bull riding.
In the
second half of the dual rodeo, Caylor
captured his second third place finish
in the saddle bronc riding with Poole
finishing sixth in the bull riding.
Jerritt Varner rounded out the men’s
side with a tie for fifth in the team
roping. For the women, Mixon finished
fourth in the barrel racing with Heisman
in seventh. Heisman concluded the
women’s side with a fifth place finish
in goat tying.
The
UWA wranglers return to action on
Thursday, Mar. 26 at the University of
Arkansas at Monticello for a three-day
rodeo.
