MARSHALL, Mo. – The University of West Alabama wranglers opened the 2008-09 season with the women placing fourth and the men finishing sixth in the Missouri Valley College rodeo.

On the women’s side, Lauren Hedrick tied for third in the team roping with 110 points.

For the men, Jarrett Varner placed fifth in the steer wrestling with 50 points, while Cole Bilbro finished in a tie for sixth in the event with 40 points. Daniel Poole finished in sixth in the bull riding.

UWA returns to competition on Sept. 25-27 at the Southern Arkansas Rodeo.  The Tigers will host the UWA Rodeo on Oct. 9-11 at the Don C. Hines Rodeo Complex in Livingston.
