LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Former University
of West Alabama rodeo standout Chance
Smart finished second in the 2008
Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association’s
World Standings in bull riding at the
recently completed 2008 Wrangler
National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nev.
Smart, a 2006 graduate of UWA,
accumulated $197,224.93 in earnings
throughout the ten-round event. The
Philadelphia, Miss-native won the third
go-round with a mark of 91.50, the
highest mark tallied in the bull riding
competition.
His
finish at the NFR caps off a decorative
season on the rodeo circuit, winning the
2008 Dodge Xtreme Bulls Tour Finale in
Indianapolis, Ind. along with claiming
top honors at the San Antonio Stock Show
& Rodeo. In 2007, Smart finished second
in the Dodge Xtreme Bulls Tour standings
with $57,423. He returned to his native
state to win the bull riding section of
the Ralph Morgan Semi-Annual Rodeo in
Meridian, Miss.
As
a Tiger Wrangler, Smart won the National
Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Ozark
Region in 2005.
