"Our goal every year is to make it to the Gulf South Conference Tournament," said Montgomery. "We’ve won several championships, but every season we look to re-establish ourselves among the Conference elite." Montgomery’s tutelage has also produced a bevy of outstanding individual performances. Throughout her tenure, the Tiger softball program has produced 44 All-GSC, 25 GSC All-Academic, four GSC All-Tournament, 11 NCAA All-South Region, three NCAA South Regional All-Tournament and 10 NFCA Academic All-America selections. For Montgomery, the seeds for a long and fertile career in college athletics were planted during a standout two-sport career at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where she earned a B.S. in Business Administration in 1986. One of the most highly acclaimed student athletes in Ranger history, the former Janet Koenig was a four-year starter and three-time All-District selection in volleyball and a two-time softball All-American. She was recently honored by her Alma Mater with induction into the Wisconsin-Parkside Athletic Hall of Fame. Montgomery is married to UWA Head Athletic Trainer Brad Montgomery. They have one son Brock Mitchell, and one daughter, Jade Morgan. |
