Final Box Score
LIVINGSTON,
Ala. – Three West Alabama men posted double
figures on the night, but it wasn’t enough as
the Tigers fell to Valdosta State, 81-70, on
Saturday evening at Pruitt Hall.
UWA (6-11, 1-3
GSC) was led by Stan Gill with 24 points,
shooting 10-of-12 from the field. Michael
Billings recorded 15 points along with eight
rebounds, as Jared Hembree added in 11 points on
the night.
VSU (14-4, 3-1
GSC) was led by 22 points from Herman Burge.
Mike Crain added 17 points, while Richard Lusane
(15 points) and Ricky Coleman (10 points) also
supplied double digits on the night.
A close game
the first 10 minutes of the first half, saw UWA
down 16-15, on a jumper from Joe Eatmon.
Valdosta State would go on a 12-2 run over the
next four minutes to gain an 11-point lead The
Blazers would add to the deficit and head into
the locker room up 17 points.
UWA would open
the second half on a 12-0 to cut the VSU lead to
five points with 16 minutes to play.
A quick 9-3
spurt for the Blazers would answer the Tigers
run and pushed the lead back out to 11 points.
UWA would not get any closer the remainder of
the way.
The Tigers
shot 45.5-percent from the floor on the night,
as VSU posted a 52-percent shooting night.
West Alabama
returns to action on Monday, January, 22nd,
as the Tigers host West Florida in Gulf South
Conference action. Tip-off is slated for 7:30
