LIVINGSTON,
Ala. -- The University of West Alabama
men's basketball team held on for a 76-72 win
over West Georgia on Tuesday evening at Pruitt
Hall in a Gulf South Conference game.
Jared Hembree posted 21 points to lead West
Alabama, winners of four of its last five games.
Stan Gill added 18 points on the night.
UWG Henrick Foster led UWA with 20 points.
Terrence Hundley added 18 points for the Wolves,
as Paul Harper chimed in 17 points.
The Tigers overcame a 19-8 run early in the
first half to force a 29-29 tie with 8:19
remaining in the opening stanza and took the
lead on a jumper from N'Diaye.
UWA would hold that lead the remainder of the
game, using a12-8 run to increase the six point
halftime to 54-41 with 12:48 remaining in the
game.
West Georgia would begin chipping away at the
lead and cut the double digit deficit to 59-53
with 8:48 remaining in the contest.
A 9-2 UWA run would push the lead back out 13
points. The Wolves would once again make a run
at the Tigers, cutting the lead to three points,
with under a minute remaining.
West Alabama returns to action, Saturday,
February 10th, as the Tigers travel to North
Alabama. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m. |
