BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Seven University of West Alabama basketball players were named to the Gulf South Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll, including two to the All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference office on Friday afternoon.

Four UWA women and three Tiger men received the academic honor for having a minimum grade point average of 3.00.

UWA’s Kotreece Bender (Newton, Miss), Ayonna Procter (Elba, Ala.), Jessica Thompson and Ashton Washington were honored as members of the Honor Roll, as Thompson and Washington also received All-Academic Team recognition.

Washington, a native of Lexington, Miss., and Thompson, a native of Valhermoso Springs, Ala., were two of six members named to the All-Academic Team. Janelle Collazo, Carley Peterson and Khaleh Thomas, all of Valdosta State and Laura Davis of West Florida joined the UWA duo on the list.

 Tigers Joe Eatmon (Tuscaloosa, Ala.), Jared Hembree (Vinemont, Ala.) and Raymond Shaw (Little Rock, Ark.) garnered the honor for the UWA men.
