Eatmon receives NCAA scholarship

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – University of West Alabama senior men’s basketball player Joe Eatmon was selected as a recipient of the NCAA Ethnic Minority Enhancement Program Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics.

“It’s a great honor to be selected to receive this scholarship,” Eatmon, who is majoring in Physical Education/Sports Management, said. “I have enjoyed my time and career at UWA. It’s nice that not only can I compete on the hardwood, but also in the classroom.”

As a recipient of the scholarship, Eatmon will receive a $6,000 nonrenewable award to be used during the 2007-08 academic year. The award goes to an individual who is in a sports-related program as a full-time student, as defined by the postgraduate institution.

In his final year at West Alabama, Eatmon played in 27 games, averaging eight points and 1.3 rebounds per contest. He also logged 21.5 minutes per game.
