LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama’s basketball teams hit the road for the final two times this season, first traveling to Valdosta, Ga., on Saturday, Feb. 17 and then to Pensacola, Fla. Monday, Feb. 19.

The Tiger women, ranked No. 7 in the latest NCAA Division II South Regional, come into this weekend’s action having won their last game, a 93-61 rout of UAH last Monday. Jessica Thompson scored a career-high 23 points in the victory, while Wennica Foster added 15. Brandi Humphrey and Jamie Walker chipped in 10 points, while Ashton Washington pulled down 11 of the Tigers’ 51 rebounds.

Before last weekend’s trip to Florence and Huntsville, the West Alabama men’s team had won four out of its last five. Since that trip, the Tigers are 0-2, with losses at North Alabama and UAH. Against the Chargers, West Alabama trailed 44-33 at the break and were outscored 49-46 in the second half. Joe Eatmon came off the bench to pace the Tigers with 20 points. Stan Gill had 17, while Raymond Shaw finished with his sixth double-double of the season, 16 points and 10 rebounds.

After Saturday’s trip to Valdosta, Ga., the Tigers travel to Pensacola, Fla., to take on West Florida Monday, Feb. 19.

Tip-off against the Lady Blazers is set for 1:00 p.m. with the men’s game to follow at 3:00 p.m. and can be heard on WZNJ-FM 106.5 and athletics.uwa.edu. It can also be seen live via the internet on the UWA and Valdosta State Athletic websites.
