LIVINGSTON, Ala. —With post
season fate still on the line, the
University of West Alabama men’s
basketball team will host Valdosta State
on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Pruitt Hall.
Tip off between the Tigers and Blazers
is set for 4 p.m. Live stats will be

UWA, who is coming off a 1-1 road trip
last week, is still in contention to
earn a berth into the 2008 Gulf South
Conference Tournament in Southaven,
Miss. in two weeks. The Red and White
picked up a 67-66 win last Saturday at
West Georgia and suffered a hard-fought
72-64 setback at UAH on Monday night.
The Tigers enter the second meeting with
the Blazers, having won four out of its
last six contests. Since the win at
Montevallo to begin February activity,
the Tigers are averaging 71.3 points per
contest and shooting 40 percent from
behind the three-point line, draining
7.8 treys per game over the six-game
span.
VSU won the first meeting between the
two GSC East foes 74-62 at Valdosta back
on Jan. 26. UWA carried a five-point,
38-33 advantage into the halftime break,
but the Blazers out-scored the Tigers
41-24 in the second half to pick up the
win. Freshman Demarcus King led all UWA
scorers with 17 points, 5-of-7 from
behind the arc. Ricky Coleman led VSU
with 16 points in the affair. VSU
stepped out of conference play on
Wednesday, turning in a 99-70 win over
Reinhardt.
Following the home
tilt with VSU, the Tigers will travel to
West Florida on Monday, Feb. 25. Tip
off is set for 7:30 p.m. The UWF match
