VALDOSTA, Ga. —
The University of West Alabama men’s
basketball team picked up its second win
of the season and snapped a five-game
losing streak with a 67-65 win over Lynn
University in the final game of Flagler
Construction Equipment Classic at
Valdosta State University.
UWA (2-5) opened a
double figure lead on the Fighting
Knights of LU seven minutes deep into
the game and led by as many as 16 points
before taking a 14-point advantage into
the halftime break. Junior Bobby Clark,
who finished Friday’s game with Eckerd
with 14 points, posted 12 in the first
20 minutes with LU. Clark drilled
4-of-7 from behind the three-point arc
in the half. The Tigers turned in a 53
percent (15-28) shooting half while
holding LU to 33 percent shooting from
the field.
LU (2-3) trimmed the
deficit down to seven points twice in
the first 10 minutes of the final half,
but the Red and White pushed the margin
back to double figures at 57-47 at the
6:39 mark of the final half. The
Fighting Knights got within the final
margin of two points before time
expired.
The Tigers posted
five players in double figures led by
Clark’s final tally of 17 points. Kevin
Johnson turned in 12 points and pulled
down a game-high nine rebounds. Brian
Murphy carded 11 points while Maurice
Naylor and Michael Billings each
finished with 10 points in the affair.
LU’s Randy Jones
paced the Fighting Knights with 18
points while Luke Postorino recorded 15.
UWA returns home for
the final two home contests before the
holiday break. Southern Arkansas will
be the opponent on Wednesday, Dec. 5.
Tip off is set for 6 p.m. at Pruitt
Hall. The Tigers will host Southeastern
Bible College out of Birmingham, Ala. on
Friday, Dec. 7.
