LIVINGSTON, Ala. – With three players scoring double figures, the University of West Alabama men’s basketball team snapped a two-game, losing streak by knocking off West Florida, 82-72, Monday evening at Pruitt Hall.

Two Tigers posted 20-plus points, led by 21 points from Stan Gill along with 20 from Raymond Shaw. Jared Hembree, who shot 60-percent from behind the arc, recorded 18 points for UWA (7-11, 2-3 GSC).

Barry Durosier led all scores with 23 points for UWF (8-9, 1-4 GSC), as Andy Beauchamp added 13 points along with 10 from Lucas Evangelissta.

UWA, which led 38-28 at the intermission, never trailed in the second half, shooting 48-percent from the field on the night. With the game tied at 17-17, the Tigers went on a 16-2 run to gain a 33-19 advantage with 4:24 minutes remaining in the opening half.

West Alabama would pick where it left off, opening the first three minutes of the second stanza on a 13-4 run to hold a 53-34 advantage over the Argonauts.

UWF would make a run at the Tigers, cutting the deficit to as few as seven points, but the lead was too much, as the Tigers picked up their second Gulf South Conference win of the season.

West Alabama will return to action on Wednesday, January 24th, as the Tigers will travel to Claflin University. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
