FLORENCE,
Ala. -- The University of West Alabama men’s
basketball team saw its two-game win streak
snapped, as the Tigers fell o North Alabama
109-85 at UNA’s Flowers Hall.
UWA (10-13,
3-5 GSC) was led by Stan Gill’s 24 points, as
Raymond Shaw and Jared Hembree added 16 each and
Michael Billings chipped in 11 points in the
contest. Abdoulaye N’Diaye led the Tigers on the
boards with five rebounds.
UNA’s Milton
Nance led all scorers with 31 points. Esmir
Guzonjic finished with 20 while pulling down 14
rebounds and Quinn Beckwith tallied 18 points.
The Lions out
rebounded the Tigers 52-26 in the game. UNA shot
55-percent from the field, including 47-percent
from behind the arc, as UWA connected on
46-percent of its shots on the night.
UNA jumped out
to a 29-10 lead and would push the advantage to
55-32 at the intermission. The Lions didn’t
let up opening the second half on a 16-4 run
to push the lead out to 35 point advantage,
71-36, and never looked back.
West Alabama
returns to action on Monday, Feb. 12,
as the Tigers will travel to UAH to face the
Chargers in GSC action. Tip-off is set for 7:30
p.m.
