Tigers Start Homestand With Southern Arkansas

LIVINGSTON, Ala. —The University of West Alabama men’s basketball team will host Southern Arkansas University on Wednesday, Dec. 5, to begin a two-game home stand that will close the Tigers home activity prior to the Christmas holiday break.  Tip off is set for 6 p.m. at Pruitt Hall.

The match up against the Muleriders of SAU will be the second between the two Gulf South Conference schools in a span of eight days.  SAU claimed an 83-49 decision on its home floor against UWA on Nov. 24.  SAU’s Mori Turpin led all scorers with 17 points in the contest.  The Red and White were led by Maurice Naylor with 14 points, while Abdoulaye N’diaye posted a season-best 13 points.

The Tigers are coming off a 67-65 win over Lynn University in the final game of the Flagler Construction Equipment Classic, hosted by Valdosta State University.  UWA was led by junior transfer Bobby Clark in the two games at the tournament.  Clark, a native of Jackson, Miss. and a product of Iowa Western Community College, scored in double figures in both contests against Eckerd and LU.  Junior Brian Murphy is averaging 13.4 points per contest along with Naylor’s 10.3 scoring clip.

Following the SAU encounter, the Tigers will tangle with Southeastern Bible College out of Birmingham, Ala. on Friday, Dec. 7.  Tip off is slated for 6 p.m.
