LIVINGSTON -- The
University of West Alabama will open its
14-game 2007-08 home basketball slate on
Wednesday, Nov. 21, in a Thanksgiving
Day Eve tilt with Gulf South Conference
Western Division foe Delta State. Tip
off is set for 4 p.m. at Pruitt Hall on
the UWA campus.
The Tigers
successfully opened the 2007-08 season
and the Eddie McCarter era with an 88-82
overtime win this past Saturday on the
road at Stillman College. The Tigers
were led by guard Brian Murphy and
Forward Maurice Naylor. The junior duo
each posted 20 points in the season
lid-lifter. UWA had three other players
register double figures in the scoring
column.
UWA is looking to
snap a three-game losing streak to the
Statesmen of DSU. Last year the Green
and White claimed both contests between
the two schools on the hardwood.
Wednesday's contest will be the first of
two meetings between the GSC foes. UWA
travels to Cleveland, Miss. on Jan. 5.
DSU, 1-1 on the early
season, opened with a win over Tuskegee
and dropping a contest to Loyola-New
Orleans on Monday night.
Following the DSU
tussle, the Tigers will close out the
Thanksgiving break with a tilt with
Miles College on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 4
p.m.
