LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West
Alabama returns to action on
Saturday, Oct. 24 as UWA
travels to Carrollton, Ga.
to face West Georgia in GSC
play. Kickoff is slated for
1:00 p.m. The game will be
aired on FOX Sports, WSLY
104.9-FM and at
athletics.uwa.edu.
This is
the 27th meeting in the
series between West Alabama
and West Georgia with the
Wolves leading the series
17-8. UWA claimed the last
meeting in the series, a
48-10 victory at Tiger
Stadium last season. The
series dates back to 1983, a
28-14 victory for the Tigers
in Livingston. Since the
1983 meeting the two teams
have played once each
season.
UWA
enters the contest on a
two-game, win streak
following a 33-0 win over
Arkansas-Monticello last
weekend. The shutout victory
was the first over a Gulf
South Conference opponent
since 1979 ... a 10-0 win
over Delta State. The
blanking of the Weevils was
the first shutout for UWA
since the Tigers blanked
Concordia College of Selma
in Bobby Wallace’s first
game as UWA Head Coach. UWA
looks for its first
conference road win since
Oct. 28, 2006 … a 37-14
victory at the University of
Arkansas at Monticello.
UWG
looks to improve its home
win streak over West Alabama
to eight games and pick up
its first victory since the
2007 season ... a 30-28
victory for the Wolves over
UWA. The Wolves dropped
their last contest 62-30 at
Arkansas Tech to extend
their losing streak to 21
games. The 30 points for the
Wolves did mark a
season-high.
Following Saturday night’s
contest, West Alabama
returns to Tiger Stadium and
welcomes Ouachita Baptist
for Homecoming 2009. Kickoff
against OBU is scheduled for
5:00 p.m.
