The University of West Alabama
football team made its first
appearance in the National
Collegiate Athletic Association
Division II Football Regional
Ranking. UWA (4-3, 2-2 Gulf
South Conference) is ranked
ninth in the Super Regional Two
as announced by the NCAA
Division II Selection Committee.
GSC member
North Alabama tops the poll
followed by Albany State and
Carson-Newman. The University of
North Carolina at Pembroke is
fourth with Mars Hill in fifth.
Fort Valley State is sixth with
Morehouse in eighth. Arkansas
Tech rounds out the ranking in
10th.
Earned
access to the playoffs can be
gained by a conference if a
conference representative
finishes in the top eight of the
final super regional rankings.

The Tigers
are fresh off a 34-14 victory of
previously 22nd-ranked Delta
State, marking the first win
over the Statesmen in
Livingston, Ala. since 1993. The
victory was sparked by a 95-yard
kickoff return for a touchdown
by Terry Allen. The return was
the fourth of the Huntsville,
Ala-native’s career, which tied
the GSC record set by Danny Lee
of Jacksonville State during the
1990-1992 seasons.
West
Alabama concludes a season-long,
three-game homestand on
Saturday, Oct. 17 against the
University of Arkansas at
Monticello. Kickoff is set for
6:00 p.m. The game will be aired
on FOX Sports, WSLY 104.9-FM and
