LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The
University of West Alabama women’s cross country
team finished fifth in the non-Division I
section of the Mississippi College Invitational
on Saturday in Clinton, Miss.
The Tigers were led by Amanda
Fuentes, who finished fourth among the
non-Division I competitors and crossed the line
ahead of 34 Division I individuals with a time
of 24 minutes, 48.36 seconds. The placement is
a season-best for Fuentes. Kelly Hartley was
UWA’s second finisher with a time of 27:18.51.
Hartley finished ahead of 14 Division I
runners. Reshai Reeves turned in a time of
28:26.85 to finish 26th among the
non-Division I competitors. Sophomore Libba
McClendon turned in a time of 31:45.50 while
Irene Ngeno clocked a time of 33:15.14.
UWA now turns its focus
towards the Gulf South Conference Cross Country
Championships on Saturday, Oct. 20 in Hoover,
Ala. The event will take place at Veteran’s
Park, beginning at 9 a.m. with the men’s race,
followed by the women’s competition.
