STARKVILE, Miss. – The University of West
Alabama men’s cross country team finished second
behind Southeastern Conference foe Mississippi
State at the MSU Cross Country Invitational on
Saturday.
UWA scored
60 points in the men’s 6K event. The Tigers had
four individuals turn in top-25 performances.
Freshman Austin Enriquez crossed the finish line
with a season-best time of 21 minutes, 00.57
seconds to secure 15th place in the
field. Jeremy Wilson placed 20th
with a time of 21:42.41, a new season
superlative. Daniel Ross and Jonathan Sellers
finished 22nd and 24th
respectively.
On the
women’s side, Amanda Fuentes led the Tiger
charge in the women’s 4K. Fuentes has been
UWA’s top-finisher in all three events this
season. She turned in a time of 17:24.12 to
finish a season-best 10th.
Both squads
will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 6 at
the Twilight Invitational in Memphis, Tenn.
