LIVINGSTON, Ala. — On
the heels of a season-opening meet win a week
ago the men’s squad, the University of West
Alabama cross country teams will compete Friday,
Sept. 14 in the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa,
Ala.
The University of
Alabama-hosted event at the Harry Pritchard
Running Park will get underway with the women’s
5K at 5 p.m. followed by the men’s 8K race at
5:30 p.m. CST. This year marks the 19th
running of the Crimson Classic.
The men’s squad claimed the
team title last week at the University of
Southern Mississippi Invitational. UWA’s Austin
Enriquez was tabbed the Gulf South Conference
Male Runner of the Week after his 22 minute,
24.00 second performance at the USM meet. He
was the top collegiate finisher in the field.
The Tigers also had three other individuals
finishing in the top-20. Freshmen Jeremy Wilson
and Jonathan Sellers placed 11th and
14th respectively while Daniel Ross
finished 19th.
“We are excited about the win
on the men’s side last week,” said head coach
Don Medeiros.” We hope to carry that momentum
into this meet at Alabama.”
Joining UWA at the meet will
be Alabama State, Jacksonville State, LSU,
Mississippi State, Nicholls State, North
Alabama, Samford and Troy.
After the
Crimson Classic, the Red and White will
participate in the Mississippi State
Invitational on Sept. 22.
