BIRMINGHAM,
Ala. – University of West Alabama’s Wennica
Foster was named Gulf South Conference Eastern
Division Player of the Week, as announced by the
conference office on Monday afternoon.
The senior, a
Troy, Ala. native, stepped up for UWA on Senior
Night at Pruitt Hall, sending the Tigers to the
GSC Tournament as the number three seed in the
East. Foster led the team with 21 points, while
recording four steals, both led the team. The
5’7 guard pulled down eight rebounds, which was
second best on the team, in the 73-60 win over
Montevallo. Foster also shot a perfect 5-for-5
from the charity stripe against the Lady
Falcons.
Foster, who’s
21 points was her fourth consecutive game in
double figures, is the third player from UWA to
be recognized this season by the GSC. She joins
Ashton Washington, a two-time honoree, and Jamie
Walker.
West Alabama
returns to action on Thursday, March 1, as the
Tigers face the two seed of the Western
Division, Arkansas Tech in the GSC Tournament.
Tip-off is slated for 12:30 p.m. at the DeSoto
