LIVINGSTON,
Ala. – The University of West Alabama
women’s basketball team returns to action after
an 11-day holiday break to take part in the
University of West Florida Holiday Classic in
Pensacola, Fla. on Saturday, December 29th.
The Tigers (3-6) will face the University of
Arkansas at Monticello in a 12 p.m. contest.
UWA, which
closed out the pre-holiday slate at the Lloyd
Clark Classic in Cleveland, Miss., falling to
North Georgia 67-57 at Walter Sillers Coliseum,
concludes the UWF hosted tournament on Sunday,
December 30 against Henderson State in a 12 p.m.
tip-off.
The Red and
White is led by Ashton Washington, a Pre-Season
All-Gulf South Conference East Division
selection. The Lexington, Miss.-native is
averaging 15.1 points and nine rebounds a
contest this season. The 15 points ranks sixth
in the conference with the boards placing her in
second in the GSC.
Jessica
Thompson, a native of Valhermoso Springs, Ala.,
is the other Tiger in double figures scoring
with 13.4 points a night. Thompson is shooting
45.6-percent from behind the arc to pace UWA,
which is fourth best in the conference.
Following the
trip to Pensacola, Fla., West Alabama returns to
Pruitt Hall on Thursday, January 3rd
to host nationally ranked Delta State in a 2
p.m. tip-off. |
