LIVINGSTON,
Ala. -- The University of West Alabama
women's basketball team will close out the
regular-season on Saturday, February 24th,
as the Tigers play host to, Gulf South
Conference Eastern Division and in-state rival,
Montevallo on Senior Night.
The UWA women
(18-8, 6-5 GSC) enter the game coming off a
76-59 win at West Florida. The victory clinched
a GSC Tournament berth for the Tigers, also
notching Amanda Marks 100th win at
UWA.
The Tigers,
who have won six of their last eight games,
claimed the previous contest against the Lady
Falcons at People’s Bank and Trust Arena, 62-52.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for
the Tigers and gave Marks her 200th
career win.
UWA is led by
Ashton Washington, who is averaging 12.3 points
and 9.6 rebounds per game. Jessica Thompson
joins Washington in double figures with 10.5
points per contest.
UM (14-12, 6-5
GSC) is led by Veronica Jackson and Malissa
Harris. Jackson is averaging 10.6 points, while
Harris stands at 10.5 per outing. Jackson and
Harris also lead the way on the boards with
Harris pulling down 6.1 boards, as Jackson is
grabbing 5.6 rebounds per game.
Tip-off in the
key, divisional contest is slated for 5:30 p.m.
