LIVINGSTON,
Ala. – The University of West Alabama
women’s basketball team returns to Gulf South
Conference play on Saturday, January 2, as the
Tigers (7-12, 3-2 GSC) travel to divisional and
in-state foe Montevallo. Tip-off is set for 5:30
p.m.
UWA looks to
earn its fourth conference win and second
consecutive after turning back West Florida,
62-54, on Monday night at Pruitt Hall. Irimar
Hernandez led the way for UWA in the contest,
supplying 14 points.
The Tigers are
led by Ashton Washington and Jessica Thompson
with each averaging double figures for the
season. Washington, a Lexington, Miss.-native,
is averaging 14.1 points a contest, while
Thompson, a Valhermoso Springs, Ala.-native, is
adding a 12.3 a contest. Washington also paces
the Red and White on the boards, pulling down
8.8 an outing.
Montevallo
(5-15, 1-4 GSC) enters the contest on a
three-game losing streak. The Lady Falcons last
affair was a 90-41 a setback to Valdosta State
in Valdosta, Ga. Jennifer Hendricks is the
catalyst for UM with 12.4 points a contest.
Jamie Graham is the leader on the boards with
9.9 a contest for UM.
