BIRMINGHAM,
Ala. – The University of West Alabama’s
Jessica Thompson was named the Gulf South
Conference East Division Player of the Week for
her performance in the opening week of the
season, as announced by the conference office
Tuesday afternoon.
The Valhermoso Springs,
Ala.-native posted 53 points this week,
including an outstanding 41 point effort in an
overtime loss to Harding in the UM Coca-Cola
Classic. En route to her career-high
performance, the senior shattered the school
record for three pointers, eight, set in 1994
and set the GSC record, surpassing the previous
mark of 11 set three times over the conference's
history, making 12, while shooting 70-percent from behind
the arc.
West Alabama
returns to action on Saturday, November 24, when
the Tigers host Auburn Montgomery in the home
opener. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at
Pruitt Hall. |
