LIVINGSTON,
Ala. – The University of West Alabama
women’s basketball team returns to action on
Tuesday, February 5, as the Tigers (8-12, 4-2
Gulf South Conference) host Mobile in
non-conference play. Tip-off is set for 5:30
p.m. The contest can be followed via live stats
at athletics.uwa.edu.
The Tigers are
led by Ashton Washington and Jessica Thompson,
each averaging double figures in scoring for the
season. Washington, a Lexington, Miss.-native,
is averaging 13.8 points a contest, while
Thompson, a Valhermoso Springs, Ala.-native, is
adding a 12.3 a contest. Washington also paces
the Red and White on the boards, pulling down
9.2 an outing.
Four UWA
players scored in double figures in the Tiger’s
75-67, come from behind win at Montevallo.
Valerie Harris led with a career-high 19 points.
Jessica Thompson poured in 13 points with
Omeshia Frost adding 11 points and Jenni Thomley
supplying 10 points. Ashton Washington pulled
down 16 rebounds, tying her season-high. UWA
strung together a 14-6 run over the final four
and a half minutes to earn its fourth conference
win.
Mobile (11-10)
enters the contest with four players averaging
double figures led by Danielle Goodly and Sherri
McIntosh. Goodly is averaging 13.3 points a
contest with McIntosh supplying 13.2 points.
Angela Bounds chimes in 12 points for the Rams
with Crystal Hutchinson tallying 11.6 an outing
to round out the double digit producers.
McIntosh and Hutchinson are also the catalyst on
the boards with 7.8 and 6.6 rebounds a game
respectively.
Following West
Alabama’s final non-conference game of the
regular season, the Tigers return to conference
play on Monday, February 11, as they host North
Alabama in a 5:30 p.m. affair. |
